Two Beaches, Two Experiences
During the recent school holiday, my family and I took a trip to the coast, and I had the chance to experience two very different beaches on the same day. The contrast between them was remarkable and showed me how nature can offer such varied moods.
Our first stop was Pantai Putih (White Beach). Even from a distance, the view was stunning. The sand was incredibly soft, white, and fine, feeling like powder under my feet. The water was a clear, sparkling turquoise, and the waves were gentle and calm, lapping softly at the shore. The beach was lively and full of energy. Numerous food stalls lined the back of the beach, filling the air with the delicious smell of freshly grilled fish, spicy sauces, and sweet coconut drinks.
In the afternoon, we drove further along the coast to Pantai Batu (Rocky Beach). The difference was immediate and striking. Instead of white sand, the shore was made of dark, volcanic sand and was dotted with smooth, grey stones and dramatic rock formations. The waves here were powerful and crashed loudly against the rocks, sending spray into the air. There were no food stalls, ice cream vendors, or music. The only sounds were the relentless wind, the booming waves, and the occasional cry of a seagull.
While both places were undeniably beautiful coastal landscapes where one could enjoy the vastness of the sea and the sky, they served completely different purposes. Pantai Putih was designed for community enjoyment, comfort, and recreation. Pantai Batu, on the other hand, offered a raw, natural beauty that encouraged introspection and respect for the power of nature.
