A Letter from the Principal
To all valued students of Sekolah Menengah Bangsa,
I am writing to you today with great excitement about an important upcoming event. Next month, from the 15th to the 19th, our entire school will come together to celebrate our annual Environment Week. This is more than just a series of activities; it is a chance for us to unite as a community and take meaningful steps towards protecting our planet.
The week will be packed with engaging and educational events designed for everyone. We will begin on Monday with a tree-planting ceremony in the school field, where each class will be responsible for nurturing a young sapling. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will launch a school-wide recycling competition; the class that collects the most plastic bottles, paper, and aluminium cans will win a special eco-friendly prize, such as a set of reusable stationery for every student. Furthermore, we have invited a renowned environmental expert to lead a seminar on Thursday afternoon about practical ways to reduce plastic waste in our daily lives.
However, true change begins with our everyday habits. Therefore, we are encouraging every single student to participate personally. Starting immediately, please make a conscious effort to bring a reusable water bottle and a lunch box from home. This small action, multiplied across our hundreds of students, will dramatically reduce the amount of single-use plastic wrapping and bottles our school sends to the landfill. Throughout the week, your teachers will also integrate themes of sustainability into their lessons, exploring topics like climate change and demonstrating how our collective small actions can create a significant positive impact.
We firmly believe that by working together—students, teachers, and staff—we can transform our school into a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally conscious place. This week is just the beginning. Let's not only learn about these issues but also embody the solutions. Let's show our community and ourselves that Sekolah Menengah Bangsa is deeply committed to caring for our planet, not just for today, but for all the generations to come.
Sincerely,
Dr. Aminah Binti Hassan
