A. Tujuan Pembelajaran

• Siswa memahami teks prosedur tentang tahapan pembenihan ikan.

• Siswa mampu menyajikan kembali tahapan pembenihan secara lisan dengan kosakata teknis.

B. Teks Prosedur (±300 kata)

The Hatchery Process: How Fish Are Bred

Fish hatcheries are special facilities where fish are bred and raised before being released into ponds or the sea. The process of hatchery management follows several important steps.

First, broodstock are carefully selected. Healthy and mature fish are chosen because they can produce high-quality eggs. The broodstock must be kept in good water conditions to ensure successful spawning.

Next, spawning takes place. The broodstock are placed in tanks where they release eggs and sperm. Fertilization occurs naturally or with the help of technicians. The fertilized eggs are collected and transferred to incubation tanks.

Then, the eggs hatch into larvae. This stage is very sensitive because larvae are small and weak. They must be kept in clean water with the right temperature and oxygen levels. The hatchery staff monitor the larvae closely to prevent diseases.

After that, the larvae are fed with live food such as plankton or artemia. Feeding must be done regularly because larvae grow quickly. Proper nutrition helps them develop into fry.

Finally, when the fry grow into fingerlings, they are ready to be transferred to larger ponds or cages. At this stage, the fingerlings are stronger and can survive in different environments.

In conclusion, hatchery management requires careful planning and monitoring. Each step is important to ensure the survival and growth of fish. Without proper hatchery practices, aquaculture would not be successful.
